Whitewater Rafting on the Gallatin River in Big Sky Montana
What a day we had.... We started off this morning with a drive up to Big Sky, Montana. Again just beautiful winding rivers and gorgeous scenery. We drove up to the Big Sky ski resort. It's quite an impressive place with lots of neat shops and restaurants and ski in / ski out chalets, etc. Dave was in his glory!!!
(although he would have preferred it if there was still snow so he could ski....) We had lunch up there and then headed back down for our rafting trip.
We don't have many pictures today because we spent the majority of the day on a raft and couldn't bring the camera. But there was plenty of excitement. The raft behind us got stuck on a rock and 4 of it's passengers were floating down the river. I ended up pulling one of them out of the river and into our raft. Dave went with the raft guides to figure out how to free the raft that was now like a taco around this big rock. The boys all did great. They were very patient and stayed calm throughout the whole endeavour.
And it paid off big time in the end. Once they got everything and everyone back on the river, we had a GREAT trip. Check out all the photos at; http://www.bigskyphotos.com/ (password; 070209abc) (as of 10pm PST they haven't posted the photos on their website yet - but maybe by the morning. you need to click on the 7/2/09 Geyser Whitewater link and then Carl - he was our guide) Erik says now he wants to go whitewater rafting every summer!! They must have had a great time. Both Erik and Adam fell asleep on the bus ride back to the raft shop. Great fun.
Tomorrow....we head to Boise Idaho. We're on our way back to Oregon.
